Hollywood Feels a Little Grimm

With the overwhelming success of last year's Alice in Wonderland, Red Riding Hood's upcoming release, and the onslaught of fairy tale movies in the works, there is no doubt that Hollywood has found its latest trend.

In this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, Anthony Breznican looks ahead to all the latest fairy-tales, classic tales, what have you tales with adaptations in the works, including next month's Beastly (March 4th) and Red Riding Hood (March 11th).

Red Riding Hood director Catherine Hardwicke is featured in the article, offering up why this latest trend is taking off so quickly:

They're known all over the world. Studios are enamored with making something that already has built-in name recognition or a fan base. 

And also the underlying rights are free. 

Hardwicke also has some reservations about this latest adaptation craze:

I'm kind of down because I want to do more fairy-tale films after this.
